In the ideal situation, our teeth would bite down in a very specific way to optimise function and oral health. Unfortunately, our teeth are almost never naturally perfect. This causes problems with chewing, oral hygiene, speaking and aesthetics.
The most common orthodontic problem is called malocclusion, or ‘bad bite’, and can be a genetic problem. A bad bite can also be caused by childhood thumb or finger-sucking, mouth breathing, dental disease, abnormal swallowing, poor dental hygiene, the early or late loss of baby teeth, accidents or poor nutrition. Trauma and other medical conditions such as birth defects may contribute to orthodontic problems as well.
Orthodontic problems can affect anyone but the good news is that most issues can be treated at any age. However, it is best if problems are corrected as early as possible so the they do not persist and cause more damage to the teeth or gums.
There are many different types of orthodontic conditions and problems. During your initial meeting with one of our Orthodontists, we will carry out a thorough examination to understand what conditions may be affecting your smile and from this, we can plan options to address some or all.

Open bite often occurs when some teeth are unable to make physical contact with the opposing teeth for a proper bite.
Deep bite occurs when the upper teeth bite over the lower teeth.
Gaps between teeth can occur with abnormal continued growth of the jawbone. Missing teeth can also cause the surrounding teeth to shift due to extra space, creating gaps in your teeth.
Teeth crowding occurs when there is simply a lack of room within your jaw for all of your teeth to fit normally.
Underbite can occur when the lower teeth protrude past the front teeth.
Crossbite can occur when the upper and lower jaws are both misaligned.
"I'm so glad that I was able to get my braces treatment finished so quickly. Six month smiles is like something from sci fi it works so fast and so good."
"The treatment was completely painless. I can’t stop smiling to show it off 😁. I had the Ice brace system for 8 months, although I was nervous, everything went really well. I then had a course of tooth whitening, which worked fantastically. Then the final treatment was to have 4 front crowns, which are so natural looking, along with some fillings and reshaping of the back teeth. I am extremely happy with the final result, it has given me a massive confidence boost 😁"
“The work that was carried out was quite amazing and the end result is excellent”
