Yes traditional fixed braces are still around and are probably the best option if you want cheap metal braces. But there are other styles to consider which offer different pros and cons. We can help explain these options at your initial appointment.
Although not as popular as some of the less obvious alternatives, metal braces are still used for the majority of orthodontic treatment . They are less expensive than ceramic or custom metal brackets and are comfortable to wear, they are a great option for children, and they can be customised with different colours making them a little bit fun as well!
Here at HRS Dental Care we also offer Iconix™ aesthetic braces. The Iconix™ brackets (pads stuck to the teeth) are smaller than standard metal brackets and are contoured for maximum patient comfort. The aesthetic light gold (champagne) colour blends discreetly with the surrounding skin and mouth tones.
There is occasionally a clinical need for metal brackets when a patient has a deep overbite, the metal brackets aid in keeping the bite open while the teeth move into their new position.
