Lingual braces are a customised manufacture using state of the art CAD-CAM technology – even the arch-wires are bent into shape by robotic levers. Each bracket is specifically made to fit each individual tooth perfectly allowing the brace to be as low profile and smooth as possible to the tongue. Lingual braces provide a great option for patients who for social or professional reasons, do not want anyone to know they are wearing braces.
Not everyone can wear lingual braces and there are some challenges associated with wearing them that aren't found in traditional braces. First of all, the teeth have to be long enough to provide sufficient room to glue the braces on the inside of the teeth; therefore, lingual braces may not work for children or someone with especially small teeth. You also cannot wear lingual braces if you have excessive bite problems.
